It’s easy to lead when the road is clear but growing in an ecosystem where stringent government regulations are at play, requires a keen strategic outlook, strong technological infrastructure and brilliant leaders.

The final chapter of Bizom CPG Leadership Meet 2022 brought together two brilliant leaders from United Breweries and Emami Agrotech, who shared their struggles and strategies while winning the alcobev and edible oils market, respectively.

The event started with a high-level discussion between Shireesh Joshi, Chief Business Officer of ONDC (Open Network of Digital Commerce) and business leaders from eminent retail companies at the Taj Hotel in Bangalore. Shireesh highlighted how omnichannel selling in India would transform in the future with the government’s ONDC initiative and the best ways how CPG companies can benefit and leverage this change.

The evening turned grander when Perry Goes, the Chief Strategy Officer of United Breweries, took the stage and spoke to the audience about how different retail verticals have been able to accelerate ahead with e-commerce for years now, whereas one of the highest-selling businesses in India is yet to ride on the e-commerce bandwagon owing to the government’s policies. Perry further spoke of how innovatively UBL tried to combat this problem during the pandemic by creating a Store Locator on Bizom’s retail intelligence platform.

The next session of the CPG Leadership Meet was hosted by the Co-founder and Director of Bizom, Shree Bhise. Shree spoke to Anish Basu Roy (Co-founder and CEO of Tagz Foods), Kartikey Mehta (Director of Sales at Unibic Foods) and Sunay Bhasin (Chief Commercial Officer of MTR Foods) about their methods and thoughts on winning the omnichannel consumer.

During this AMA session, each speaker shared how they are moulding their brand and offerings to satiate the modern omnichannel consumer.

Sunay shared how MTR foods have created a unique product line for different types of shoppers and consumers and why omnichannel is not a choice, but a need for the company.

Kartikey from Unibic spoke about why being strategically and technologically ready before entering the omnichannel game is important for businesses to stay safe and grow ahead, while Anish highlighted his experiences in growing the Tagz brand in India’s D2C market.

The final spokesperson of the Meet was Krishna Mohan Nyayapati, the Director of Emami Agrotech. He shared the stage with Akshay D’souza, Chief of Growth & Insights at Bizom, to converse on the current strike of inflation which is driving the nation paranoid and how Emami is managing its downstream distribution trade amidst this crisis.
